Peace Within Silence

For the past few weeks while hubby is at work and my princess is in school I elect to turn off the television and music and just be in silence. At first it was hard, but now I find sheer peace in doing this. I read my bible, meditate, plan my meal for the following day and read many inspiring blogs. It is in these moments that I truly get to know myself. Journaling has always been a great source of comfort for me, so I love doing this within my time of silence. I can be brutally honest with my mind clear.

3 Beautiful Things:

1. Today was an absolutely breath taking day
2. The beautiful birds singing outside of my window
3. Talking to my family (in New Orleans) and feeling fulfilled when we hang up

What thoughts come to mind when you're in Your silence?

  2. Moments of silence throughout the day bring about a strength needed for dealing with the day's needs...
I too am enjoying the sounds of birds more than ever. I thought that it must be that I'm getting old and that is what old people do. However, I think that I may be just beginning to realize the power of nature and a new day.

  4. This is why I love acupuncture and yoga. In my OCD filled mind it is very hard for me to be truly silent. I'm always stewing about a zillion things. But these outlets help me to take a minute to do nothing. In these moments I think about how wonderfully blessed I am to have a supportive husband, a home that we own, our pets that we love and spoil.

Lorenzo: I don't think it has anything to do with us aging. I think we are learning to truly appreciate nature and all of it's majesty. :)

  10. I spend all my days in silence... well, until Ryan gets home... then silence takes a vacation ;) I prefer it, as it makes it easier to focus on the task at hand, whatever it is :)

  11. Appreciation, Tabitha, that is what I experience. Because most of the time my home (and office) is blissfully silent. I am grateful because I know so many others live in constant noise or chaos, or without privacy or freedom. So I offer a prayer of thanks that the Divine One has blessed me with a lovely space to live and work.

  12. I, too spend my days in silence. Just me and the purring of my kitty, and the birdsong outside my house. This does acquaint me with myself ... and does give me the serenity and fortitude to take what life tosses my way.

  13. Hello
Silence is essential and so very addictive for me. If I have been out and about, it gives me such joy to go home shut my front door behind me and just be in the total silence.

  16. I just found your beautiful blog. Sometimes it is so hard for me to sit in silence but I realize I need to because God may be trying to tell me somethings. How awesome of you to turn everything off and just sit in the silence.

  18. I have also learned to love the silence. It's almost scary at first-like what do I do with myself???

I think we (in general) are so unused to just being with ourselves and our thoughts...and I don't think it's very encouraged in our society. rock on for being in silence. I am never bored in silence-isn't that interesting?
