What I Learned Today

What I Learned Today

I've Learned:
-That my patience level is not where I wish for it to be
-That I still allow certain people and things to shake me
-I need to be reminded of God's wonder from time to time
-That until a few years ago I never knew the depth of Jesus' sacrifice for me
-Knowing this changes who I am and how I live
-That I adore hubby, Princess Charlie, and The Father more now than ever
-That I deserve bliss and it's guaranteed by Him
-That the enemy is near
-That Angels on earth truly do exist (Julia & Jan)
-That family does not have to consist of just blood relatives

Each day I am learning new things about myself. Some great and some not so great, but the blessing in it all is I am forgiven for the not so great things already. I hear someone speak (Joel or Joyce), I read a post on a blog and I am reminded to "Be still and know that I am God." This reminder centers me and bring me back to what I truly need to focus on.

I am human. I literally have to remind myself of this sometimes. I go into "superhuman" mode and forget that I am mere flesh and bones. Trying to hide feelings of hurt when a "friend" breaks my heart, trying to keep peace between broken family members who can't/won't be fix, and simply trying to be a people pleaser 24/7. I have learned so much, but I still have a great deal more to learn. For now I will go through each day taking stock in the lessons I am learning and reminding myself to "Be still and know that He is God." I find peace in knowing I don't have to please everyone. He is my first priority and I'm grateful to have learned these lessons on this day.

  1. Amen, amen, and AMEN! Sometimes God has to remind us and show us our mess in order for us to be blessed - truly blessed just by recognizing that He is GOD!

Thank you for the gift in this post and thank you for the physical gift you sent. YOU too, are a gift..

  2. You can't be a people pleaser if you aren't taking care of yourself first. I'm sorry you had a rough day. (((Hugs)))

  3. This is wonderfully uplifting for me today, Tabitha. Especially this idea of having to be reminded of God's wonder. I can completely relate to this thought, and how it can become easy to forget, in daily life, just how awesome this world is that God created, and all the people He's brought here.

  4. Good morning, Tabitha! What a lovely post to read this morning. I admire your "transparency." :-) How else can we be in touch with the areas of ourselves which invite growth? The great thing is, we ALL have these areas, every single one of us.

Patience is a virtue, you know. Do you know that for many years I wore a baseball cap with the word "patience" embroidered on the back? Ha! I had no patience so it took time to recognize it (transparency) and to set an intention to grow into it. (Darn! I thought if I just wore that hat enough that patience would sink into me by osmosis... LOL.)

I am still growing into it, but I am more patient than in the past. Prayer helps, as do spiritual practices. I think your prayer of "Be still and know..." can take care of just about anything. :-) Much love to you today!

p.s. thanks for listening to the show last night. it was nice to know you were there. :-)

  5. Amen, Tabitha!!

The more we draw closer to the Lord, the less we will be offended by other people. Keep your focus on Him, my friend!

  6. Being still is such an important moment in my life. It is a deserving time for me. Stillness allows me to walk away with the most from my day... my heart becomes full, my mind clear, my thoughts;patient.
    One love~

  7. Thank you for being Human. It shows that it's a good thing despite the itchy spots...if someone as kind and gentle and willing as you can be only Human...it gives the rest of us hope for the very same.

Hope...thanks for giving me a bit today!

  8. Stopping by from SITS.

You're very right that no matter how much we grow there is always more to learn.

Also-people pleasing is a no-win trap. Trust me on that LoL. I hope your day/week gets better!

  9. Hiya TABBY!!! Huggies! I missed reading your sweet and loving posts. Your search for the divine in everyone and everything! :)

It is the intention that supersedes anything else. Impatience and disappointment are merely indications that we have high hopes for ourselves and others. And that can never be a bad thing! After all, even those who have been superior in their spiritual evolution lost patience at some point or another. :)

  11. I so love your list! Like you, I didn't really embrace the depth of Christ's love and sacrifice, and when I did, it changed my life. Thanks for sharing this, it was so lovely to 'meet' you on SITS. Have a blessed day!

  12. As you note, we're just human. It's all too easy to be shaken by what others say or think. Sometimes I actually DUCK DOWN when people are criticizing me or the way I live...as if warding off a blow -- it does feel like someone hitting yr heart, at yr core, and often, it's family members or "friends"!!! Just try to remember you are on FIRM GROUND and stand that ground. But it sure is difficult.

  13. I always like the way you choose your words. Though I don't believe in a christian God, I can really understand it.

  14. Tabitha, thank you so much for sharing this. I go through the ups and downs of being human, too, especially recently with events eerily similar to yours. Blogs like yours lift me up and remind me of what is important, and at the same time, in sharing your humaneness I am reminded that we are all in this together-growing, stumbling, expanding, loving. Thank you!! xo!

P.S. I signed up to be a Chemo Card Angel--hope to get accepted. Thank you for inspiring us with your service to others!

  19. What an honest and wonderful list. Thank you for sharing it! That last one - that our family isn't just blood relatives - is something I've cherished more as time goes on. My family is bigger than I ever imagined because I keep choosing to add to it with amazing friends. By the way, Happy Day Before Your Birthday! I think your audience will be celebrating with you in heart and sending BIG energy your way! Enjoy it!!
