Finding Bliss in Wal-Mart?

I can't fully describe it, but when I walk through the doors of wal-mart I become peaceful.  Something about being there soothes my spirit.  It's not about spending money, because the majority of the time I don't.  I love to go there and think.  I know that sounds crazy, but it is so very true.  I get some of my best ideas when I am there.

I love visiting the candle section.  I'll smell them and feel so comforted.  I do not know why this is, but I'm actually grateful for it.  During some very difficult moments over these past two years (losing loved ones) I have gone there.  As we make our way through the store I pray within my head to God.  As time goes by I start to feel comforted.  I've been trying to figure out why wal-mart?  Why not a church or chapel?

What I'm learning is it's not so much the building that holds significance.  For some odd reason that is where my psyche has decided to feel it's most secure - open and so that is where He meets me to help me get through whatever ordeal I am facing.  To be honest I don't care where it is He meets me so long as He meets me.  I know it's not the ideal place to find comfort, but it works for me.  I'm actually joyful to know that My Father loves me so much that He's willing to meet me in aisle 8 at the local wal-mart.

  2. Tabitha, I love that!!
What a fantastic attitude that you don't care where He meets you as long as He meets you. Wow... if the world was full of people with that kind of dedication, devotion and faithfulness, God would actually have some humans to speak to.

  5. Isn't it funny where He meets us sometimes? Just goes to show, He's the One in charge. Sometimes He just surprises my socks off. Isn't that awesome?

  6. I think that is wonderful, he is there wherever you need him, I have to be honest, going into Walmart for me is not my place...lord if it is busy I run (WALK FAST) from the building, what I do love about Walmart is people watching and talking to others....God meets me in my backyard every day, another place is a little bitty bookstore that makes me feel so peaceful and calm. I love your last line of your post. hugs to you and thank you for your kind comment on my post today. hugs.

  7. Ha. Now that is interesting. I definitely don't feel peaceful when I go there with my almost 5 year old (wanting everything). :o)

Very sweet though that God is everywhere and loves to meet you there.

    Blessings!

  9. Amazing :) I think God inspires us in any place He knows we will feel most connected to Him. Many of us think it should be in formal places like a church or synagogue but He fellowships with us everywhere and any time. Besides, Walmart is the place! I love that store. Maybe He likes it too.
